September 17, 2017 Tis the last rose of summer.

Thomas Moore (1779-1852)
'TIS THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER
'TIS the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone ;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone ;
No flower of her kindred,
No rose-bud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.
I'll not leave thee, thou lone one !
To pine on the stem ;
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go sleep thou with them.
Thus kindly I scatter
Thy leaves o'er the bed,
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead.
So soon may I follow,
When friendships decay,
And from Love's shining circle
The gems drop away.
When true hearts lie wither'd,
And fond ones are flown,
Oh ! who would inhabit
This bleak world alone ?

September 9, 2017 2nd Annual Sunflower Festival

It is always a treat to visit Beaver Dam Farm, in Buchanan, Va.
The Farm has been a family owned and operated working dairy farm since 1927.
The 100-plus-year-old farm recently held it second Sunflower Festival to honor the plant.
After the plants have bloomed, they are harvested for their seeds to be marketed locally for birdseed.
Can you imagine 20 acres of black oil sunflowers????
LOVE LOVE LOVE the sunflowers. The owners are awesome for sharing.
Included in the festival were children's activities, vendors, food, photo booths and more!
And a few photographers...........hahahahahaha.
Enjoy the photos!
