July 26, 2018 Pink Cadillac Diner

Nothing says Happy Birthday to me like a first visit to the Pink Cadillac Diner.
This hidden jewel of a retro diner, is located at 4347 S. Lee Highway, Natural Bridge, Va 24578
"Take a step back in time! Swing by our 50's style diner for a family-friendly atmosphere, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner specials daily."

And of course, look for the Pink Cadillac!

No one said it was healthy eating..... hahaha

A definite fast-food joint but atmosphere was top-notch for those of us who adore Elvis!

July 21, 2018....... 40 days in Heaven.

A Filipino ritual that is a tradition celebrating the 40th day of a fmily member's death.
Today we honor of my cousin Ed Hamilton, (wife of Abby Verdillo Hamilton, and brother to Craig Jr.)I just know Eddie was there, putting the finishing touches on the picnic.
Friends and family gathered at Wasena Park, for an afternoon of relaxation and honor in remembering the short life of Edward Carl Hamilton....... (dates) .

"I know Eddie would've been so tickled seeing all of us together in that beautiful park setting, and enjoying the spread of delicious food!"

July 29, 2018 Grayson Highlands State Park

Friday, July 20. 2018

This is the summit of the Wilburn Ridge trail, in Grayson Highlands State Park.
Grayson Highlands State Park is located in Mouth of Wilson, VA. It is adjacent to the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, as well as Whitetop Mountain (two of Virginia's highest mountains).
Not only are the vistas gorgeous, the wild ponies and rhododendron tunnels provide sights and entertainment for everyone.... backpackers, campers, climbers, day-hikers.
The Appalachian Trail runs through the park, and is easily identified with the 'White Blazes' FYI... These 2" by 6" vertical rectangles are painted in white paint on trees, rocks, and sign posts, showing hikes the Appalachian Trail. Read more about the white, blue, and other blazes of the Appalachian Trail→→ HERE←←
Not to be missed, of course, are the clusters of exposed boulders at the top.

Before venturing to the boulders, grab a map at the Welcome Station, or use these directions:
→→→HIKE WILBURN RIDGE
The forecast was cloudy with possible showers.
The temperature was 10 degrees cooler than in Roanoke, Va.
Upon entering the park, there is an incline.

Stop on your way to the parking area, to grab this view on your right.

We immediately saw the PONIES, as soon as we drove into the parking area!

These precious creatures were accustomed to people!

The trails to the boulders are fairly well marked....... unless you happen to be looking at something else when passing the signs......hahahaha.

SEE THE WHITE BLAZE MARKING????? ↓↓↓

The vegetation along the trail(s) was luscious, displaying no lack of water!

It was hard not to fall in love with the wild ponies!

It was difficult to leave such a place of beauty!

Until next time........ ♥
