January 30, 2024 Capt Thomas G Logwood~ Genealogy

 

The place: Sedalia at Locust Grove, Bedford, Va.........former home of patriot Captain Thomas Logwood, a  Revolutionary War Hero. "Captain Logwood served in the Virginia Militia and was wounded three times at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. He also provided a wagon, four houses, 950 pounds of beef and 4,000 pounds of flour for the war effort." 

And to think that this hero has now been officially traced back to my maternal 6th great-grandfather!

There were several other stones and markers in this thicket.

The area where Thomas Logwood was buried is breathtaking. 

Ron and I have ventured through many wooded areas, thickets, and hidden graveyards looking for our lineage. What a fun excursion it has been🥰. Finding evidences of our roots has given both of a an opportunity to learn more about history. 

*Several years ago(October, 2022), The Peaks of Otter Chapter NSDAR, Virginia Sons of the American Revolution, Seven Hills Society, Children of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, and other organizations met to honored Captain Logwood by marking his grave! 

I made the connection recently when I realized there was a  'Theodosia Ann Reynolds White Logwood' in my lineage(Thank you Ancestry dot come)! Her first husband, James B White was deceased(His mother was Lucinda H Buford), so she married Alexander Horace Logwood. Both are buried in Bedford Country at Old Ebenezer Church Cemetery(of course, we've been there!🤣🤣🤣) Lucinda H Buford's Mother was Martha Hill Logwood. Her Mom was Ann Aiken who was married to Major TG LOGWOOD! 

Today's adventure was one the best #NewToMeAt75 accomplishments!💥
