What a hidden gem! High Bridge Trail State Park in Farmville, VA
The entire trail is 31 miles long and suitable for bikers, joggers, and walkers. The bridge is more than 2,400 feet long, rising 125 feet above the Appomattox River.
The majestic High Bridge is the longest recreational bridge in Virginia and among the longest in the nation.
Built in 1853, the bridge is now the centerpiece of High Bridge Trail State Park.
The bridge is also a Virginia Historic Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
FYI: The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in Taos, NM, is merely 1,273 feet long, much shorter than this bridge!One of Autumn's best show of colors was on display today.
